Welcome Note

Welcome to another edition of Herbal Profiles! It’s been a busy week in the THC Beverage space. You likely saw the extra ping in your inbox this morning about the urgent Hemp-Killing amendment submitted and voted on yesterday?

A critical amendment to the Farm Bill was proposed by Rep. Mary Miller, which would ban all ingestible hemp products containing any THC, including non-intoxicating CBD products. This amendment could devastate the U.S. hemp industry, affecting 90-95% of hemp products, including those approved for animal feed.

Unfortunately I have some disappointing news from Capitol Hill: the hemp-killing Mary Miller Amendment passed via a voice vote, grouped with other amendments by House Agriculture Committee Chairman G.T. Thompson. Despite over 7,000 emails and extensive lobbying efforts, the amendment was not subjected to a roll call vote, which likely would have led to its defeat.

HOWEVER - The battle isn't over, as the Farm Bill still faces hurdles in the House and Senate. The hemp industry must stay united and continue pressuring Congress to remove this harmful amendment.
