Welcome Note
Welcome back Gardeners!
This week, I didn’t ask my communities anything. You may have noticed I have been a bit less active out there this week beyond what I already had scheduled. Well, my FIL passed a week ago and I have been with my wife and family. This week, I didn’t have any interviews already pre-recorded and thought it would be relevant to discuss grief and cannabis use. So that’s where the focus will be this week.
I know this poll has been going for awhile now, I am just trying to leave it up for as long as possible to give as many people as possible the time to fill it out. So thank you to those who have responded, I am hoping to get the results out here in the next few weeks. I am conducting a little survey/research into people’s experiences with these beverages. If you have 2-4 minutes to complete this survey I would greatly appreciate it! I am waiting until I have a good representative amount of people to release any of the responses. So check it out, share it, etc.
In case you missed it, I just launched a new podcast with David Gonzalez and the fourth episode was released Monday with Brandon Harshbarger. So be sure to subscribe on Apple, Spotify, or wherever you get listen to podcasts. Also, be sure to rate us and maybe give the Youtube Channel a follow to if that’s your jam!
Any comments or questions? Leave comment on this post or shoot me an email. Would love to hear from you!

Grieving with Cannabis: A Tool for Healing
Grief is messy, unpredictable, and deeply personal. It shows up when we least expect it, disrupts our sleep, appetite, and emotions, and doesn’t care about our schedules or responsibilities. For anyone who has been through loss, you know grief doesn’t “heal” in a linear way.
As I explored ways to help those around me, I kept returning to cannabis. It’s something I was already familiar with, and while I was aware of it’s therapeutic benefits, I had not ever explored the science as grieving tool. Not as an escape, but as a way to find moments of clarity, rest, and, maybe, a little peace.
Let’s talk about how cannabis, especially with its many cannabinoids, can support the grieving process—and how to use it intentionally.
The Science of Cannabis and Grief
Cannabis connects to the body through the endocannabinoid system (ECS), which plays a key role in regulating emotions, sleep, stress, and even physical discomfort. When grief throws these systems into chaos, cannabinoids like THC, CBD, and lesser-known compounds—CBN, CBG, CBC—can help recalibrate and provide relief.
THC is often associated with its psychoactive effects, but in low doses, it can help soften the intensity of overwhelming emotions.
CBD is known for its calming properties, helping to reduce anxiety and tension without the high.
Minor cannabinoids, like CBN (helpful for sleep) or CBG (which supports mood and focus), bring additional, subtle benefits to the table.
The beauty of cannabis lies in its versatility. Whether you prefer a precise gummy, a tincture, or something else, cannabis offers a way to manage grief’s symptoms while remaining present in your journey.

Benefits of Cannabis During the Grieving Process
Grief affects the mind, body, and spirit. Here’s how cannabis can support different aspects of this process:
1. Finding Rest When Sleep Feels Impossible
Grief can keep you up at night, replaying moments or bringing up memories you wish you could avoid. Sleep is crucial for healing, but it often feels out of reach. Cannabis, particularly products rich in CBD and CBN, can help quiet the mind and encourage deep, restorative sleep.
Adding a small amount of THC can enhance this effect for those who struggle with a racing mind. The goal isn’t sedation—it’s relief from the cycle of sleeplessness.
2. Easing the Weight of Anxiety and Stress
Grief often comes with a constant undercurrent of stress, whether it’s tied to practical challenges or the weight of emotional pain. CBD, with its anti-anxiety effects, is a natural choice for calming the nervous system.
For heightened moments of stress—like attending a funeral or dealing with family dynamics—a carefully dosed THC product can provide a sense of grounding. Minor cannabinoids like CBG also support relaxation while keeping the mind clear.
3. Supporting Emotional Processing
Processing grief requires facing emotions that feel too big to handle. Cannabis can help create the space to feel those emotions without becoming consumed by them.
Low-THC formulations, paired with CBD, allow for moments of reflection without the intensity of a full psychoactive experience. This balance can be invaluable during quiet evenings when memories hit the hardest.
4. Restoring Appetite and Physical Energy
Loss often takes a toll on the body. Appetite disappears, and energy feels impossible to summon. THC is well-known for its ability to stimulate appetite, and products that incorporate CBD can reduce nausea or discomfort that sometimes accompanies grief-related stress.
For those dealing with exhaustion, CBG may help support focus and motivation, offering a gentle lift to get through the day’s demands.
Using Cannabis Mindfully in the Grieving Process
Grief is a deeply personal experience, and cannabis isn’t a one-size-fits-all solution. It’s important to approach its use with mindfulness and intention. Think of it not as a way to numb yourself but as a tool to help you navigate the waves of grief without being completely overtaken.
Gummies and Tinctures for Precision: These options are ideal for grief management because they offer precise dosing and often include complementary ingredients like melatonin or adaptogens. They let you experiment safely and adjust as needed.
Start with Intention: Reflect on what you’re feeling and what you need before reaching for cannabis. Are you looking to calm your nerves? Get some rest? Find a moment of focus? Let your needs guide your choice.
Be Honest About Reliance: It’s easy to lean too heavily on anything that offers relief. Cannabis can help you process emotions, but it’s not a substitute for the hard work of grieving. Combine its use with practices like therapy, journaling, or time in nature.
Grief is a Journey, Not a Destination
Cannabis doesn’t make grief disappear—it’s not supposed to. But it can provide tools to help you move through it with greater ease. Whether it’s finding sleep after days of restlessness or creating the emotional clarity to sit with your pain, cannabis can support the hard but necessary work of healing.
Grief changes you. And while cannabis can’t bring back what’s lost, it can help you carry the weight in a way that feels just a little lighter.
